An emergent session of the Islamabad Bar Council was held at Secretariat of the Islamabad Bar Council. It was attended by Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Abbase, Vice-Chairman, Syed Qamar Hussain Shah Sabzwari and Raja M. Aleem Khan Abbasi, and Mr. Adil Aziz Qazi, Members Islamabad Bar Council.
The Islamabad Bar Council has taken strong exception to the misconceived policy of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), whereby it has for the fourth time, postponed the holding of Law GAT.
Moreover, Special Equivalence Examination (SEE) for Law Graduates of Foreign Universities has not been held in more than six months. 2019 SMCR 389, makes is incumbent upon the HEC to regularly hold Law-GAT and SEE-Law tests. The failure of the HEC to conduct Law-GAT and SEE-Law is not only wrecking havoc to the future of the yound legal professionals/aspirant lawyers but is also a contumacious disgregard of the judgment passed by the Honourable Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The Islamabad Bar Council forcefully demands and directs the Higher Education Commission to immediately conduct Law-GAT and SEE-Law tests, failing which it will be left with no other option but to initiate appropriate legal proceedings against the Higher Education Commission before the Honourable Supreme Court of Pakistan,
